This document describes the Lantronix SLM firmware release to update release 1.0 and 1.1 to release 2.0. =============== RELEASE SUMMARY =============== This release: 2.0 ================= FIRMWARE RELEASES ================= file: slmupdate-2.0.tgz key: 22c892d9672a5773fa64f75a9b3a9826 Do not rename the firmware file - it must retain the same filename in order for the firmware upgrade to complete successfully. The firmware can be updated via the 'Configuration-Services-Maintenance' web page. Note: During the firmware update process, the SLM will download the patch, apply the patch, and then reboot the SLM. During reboot, the following parameters are transferred from the old database to the new database, and then the old database is deleted: hostname gateway IP address gateway type dns1, dns2, dns3 IP addresses eth0/eth1 mode eth0/eth1 static IP addresses eth0/eth1 subnetmask ======= CHANGES ======= Version 2.0 restructured user account permissions and device groupings, thereby changing the relationships between accounts and devices. 1. The name "Console Devices" is changed to "Managed Devices". 2. Action icons are replaced by specialized buttons on individual web pages. 3. Web fields are separated into tab pages. 4. CLI command set expanded - see User Guide or web based help. 5. Event management added 6. Device permission is now set from account point-of-view instead of device point-of-view. 7. Option to automatically save configuration changes to another SLM. 8. Added Kerberos and TACACS+ remote authentication methods. 9. Added file manager to the web interface. 10. Added inactivity timeout for web users. 11. Added optional local user password complexity and aging. 12. Added SSH configurable SSH port number, and public key authentication 13. Added Ethernet Device health monitoring to poll devices. 14. Added SLC Actions page to perfrom repetitive operations on a group of SLC Console Servers. 15. Added Ethernet mode settings: auto/manual, full/half duplex, and 10/100/1000 Mbs settings. 16. Expanded support for legacy SCSxx05/20 Console Servers, including auto-discovery, reading/writing of device port names, and direct to port SSH connections. 17. Expanded SLP Remote Power Manager support, including on/off/reboot control of individual outlets. ========== KNOWN BUGS ========== 1. Firmware upgrade may fail when performed with a non Linux FTP server. However, if the FTP server allows configuration of status message, as most server do, there is a way to work with that FTP server - contact Lantronix Tech Support for instructions. 2. On the Ethernet-devices-view web pgae for SLC, the Action tab only allows simultaneous actions to be performed on 25 SLCs at a time.
