============================= Lantronix DeviceInstaller ------------------------- Version 2.0 ============================= *** Description *** This utility provides users a single application, with a graphical interface, to access various configuration functions for our UDS-10, Cobox-E2, Cobox-FL, Micro, Mini, Mini Rev2, and Mini 100 Device Servers. This makes it easy to perform initial setup, assign IP addresses, upgrade firmware, and overall device management. *** Requirements *** This version of the DeviceInstaller utility requires Windows 98/ME, WindowsNT 4.0, or Windows 2000 with SP2. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, or later. *** Installation *** The DeviceInstaller is distributed in a single image, DeviceInstaller.exe, as a self-extracting executable. It is included on the CD packaged with the device server. This utility can also be downloaded from the Lantronix website. 1. The application installation directory defaults to C:\Program Files\DeviceInstaller, unless another folder is selected during the installation process. 2. Under this destination folder, the \Firmware subdirectory is the default folder for all firmware files & webpages (*.ROM and *.COB) used to upgrade a device. Likewise, the \Fileset subdirectory is the default folder for all filesets used for multiple-file upgrades. 3. If installing from CD, the latest files in the Firmware and Fileset folders are automatically copied from the CD to the corresponding installation folders. 4. If installing from the Web download, however, any required Firmware files must be downloaded separately from the Lantronix website. 5. A shortcut to this application is created on the Start/Programs menu. *** Upgrade Instructions *** To uninstall the DeviceInstaller utility, follow these steps: 1. Select Settings->Control Panel from the taskbar Start menu. 2. Double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon. 3. Under the Install/Uninstall tab, select DeviceInstaller in the Software list and then click Add/Remove. Follow the prompts. (Note: DeviceInstaller was the default Program Folder specified in the installation process.) 4. Depending on what was previously installed on your system, might get prompted about removing shared files, DAO350.dll and Dao2535.tlb. If you select Yes to delete these, could possibly get an error indicating Dao2535.tlb did not properly self-register, but select OK to continue anyway. A new installation will still work. *** Technical Support *** If you have a question about the DeviceInstaller utility, first look in the online Help file. When the program is running, press the F1 key to automatically display Help, or select Contents in the Help pull-down menu. This Help file can also be accessed via the shortcut on the Start/Program menu. If you cannot find an answer, please contact Lantronix technical support at 800-422-7044 US or 1-949-453-7198.
