CPR enables you to create up to 256 virtual com ports. The tree structure in the left pane of the window displays existing com ports, and the Com Port List tab lists them on the right, along with additional information, if available.
To view com port information:
Click the Com Port List tab (if not displayed).
View information about each listed com port, if available:
IP Address |
IP address of the device server to which the com port is connected. |
TCP Port |
TCP port on the device server to which the com port is connected (for example, 10001 if using channel 1 or 10002 if using channel 2 on a UDS or XPort device server). |
COM Status |
Indicates whether the com port is open or closed. |
Network Status |
Status of the connection between the com port and the device server, e.g., Disconnected. |
2217 |
Yes indicates RFC 2217 is enabled. |
BfrWr |
Yes indicates buffer writes is enabled. |
SvrRec |
Yes indicates CPR will attempt reconnecting to the device server if the device server disconnects from CPR. |
NoCls |
Yes indicates that when an application closes the com port, CPR will not close the network connection. |
CntTO |
Number of seconds the com port will wait before attempting to connect to the next device server in the list, or before aborting the connection attempt. |
TORec |
Yes indicates CPR will re-establish the connection if a connection times out. |
KpAlv |
Yes indicates TCP KeepAlive is enabled. |
To display multiple IP addresses for com ports directed to multiple device servers:
In the Com Port list, right-click the com port and select Show IP Addresses. If the com port is directed to multiple device servers, all of the IP addresses display.
To close a com port or disconnect CPR from the device server:
If a com port is open, in the Com Port List, right-click the com port and select Close Com <port number>. The com port closes.
Note: The application that opened this com port will be unaware of this close, so use this with caution.
If a com port is closed, but there is still a connection between CPR and the device server, or the com port is open and is in Listen Mode, then in the Com Port List, right-click the com port and select Disconnect Com <port number> from Device Server.
